This was difficult to resist…
Out of nowhere, my phone rang…
I ran to check who it was…
Me: Ah… baby, thank God you called!
Shola: Where are you…. We need to talk…
Me: I’m at a friend’s place….
Shola: Yes I know…
Me: How? Oh… Kemi told you..
Shola: No… I didn’t know when you left the house so I got out…. I checked the bar near us… and guess what…. They said you just left…. That someone, came to pick you…
Me: Yes. That’s true….
Shola: Well, when are you coming home… you’re making me really bored…

Me: Lola, please you’ve to drop me now…
Lola: Your girlfriend again… so you’ll leave me all to myself….

As I headed out, she quickly got dressed….

I left the house and waited for her inside the car….

Me: So she went to the market alone?
I went back to my room to get my phone…
I called her…
Me: Shola why’re you doing this now?
Shola: What is it again?
Me: Woman you listen to me! You’re pregnant and you’re doing all this stuffs.

Hour by hour, I was developing hate on Shola… the fact that she gets me angry everytime…for no reason…

I cut the call.
I went to watch TV…
The night was approaching very fast…
Shola wasn’t home yet!
I called her again…

Shola: I’m on my way…
Me: Where exactly so I can come meet you…

At that point, I cared no more…
I went outside to get natural air…. After which I decided to go to the Northerner…
The night was approaching very fast….as the wind was associating itself with lightening…. Rain was coming….

He went inside the compound at the back of his kiosk…
After about five minutes, he came out…
Numerous times, I checked my phone for any alert whatsoever from Shola…
My screen was blank as it showed just the network status with the current time & date…
Northerner: This one na special one o Oga… na N1,000.
Me: Oya bring am chap…. This rain one start….
I paid and got my product and started running home…
I was able to get home quickly as I had predicted.
I went to the balcony and got it lighted up…
After about 10 minutes of sitting down, and thinking about my whole life….
There was heavy bang on our gate….as the rain started drizzling
I stood up to get the gate but my sister had gone ahead of me….
As I heard the gate open, I heard Shola’s voice….
I quickly threw the whole thing away and marched on it until it dissolved
Shola was inside in no time…
I went to meet her and at least reignite the whole thing…
Instead she ignored me….
Me: Baby… Thank God you’re home….
Shola: Well, I told you I would be okay isn’t?
Me: Yea you did….
I went to get the generator started as there was no government power…
I came back and met Shola going through my phone…
She had abandoned what she was doing in the kitchen…
Me: What’s going on?
Shola: What’s going on where… can’t I check your phone again?
Me: Why would you check my phone…
Shola: Don’t be silly young man….
With the thought that she might have gone through my messages…. I approached her violently…
Shola: Oh so you want to beat me now?
Me: Shola give me my phone now…
Shola: I’m not releasing it MR.
Me: Shola, give me my phone!
The little argument got Kemi’s attention as she came out of her room…
Kemi: What’s going on…. The two of you should calm down…
Me: Shola….*I stretched my hand* I’m waiting for the phone…
She moved towards me….
Shola: Beat me now… shebi you want to beat me…
Out of nowhere, my hand took over control over me as I slapped Shola…
She landed on the floor immediately…
Kemi: Ah… Jide… what did you do…
I took my phone off her hand as I left their presence…
Shola stood up as she was murmuring very loud, she approached me from my back…
She slapped my back, and again, my hands got hold of her as I threw her on the chair…
She was weeping as her eyes where fueled with only moisture….
I left and got into my room and locked the door…
I grabbed my phone and started playing mortal kombat… when it rang…
Me: Hey sweety
Nolly: How are you baby? You forgot me huh…
Me: No… that’s funny… why would I forget about you? How’re you?
Nolly: I’m okay…. I’ve not been doing anything… just volunteer work…
Me: Volunteer? Nolly, what are you volunteering for?
Nolly: What do you mean now…. Just in some school….
Me: Wow, that’s awesome baby…. I can’t wait to see you…
Nolly: I’ve missed you too. So how’s life in Nigeria?
Me: It’s okay…. Just the stress…
Nolly: It’s going be okay…. And you’ll be here soon… and everything will be ours again…

After the call…. I noticed the whole house was silent…. I waited for some time before I got out of my room….
I didn’t find anybody in the parlor…
I went outside so I can put the generator off.
After the light was gone…. I still heard not a single sound, so with the lamp that was with me…
I entered the house and checked Kemi’s room
I found the two of them talking…. They were talking in the most secret way possible…
I closed the door without saying a single word to any of them and went to my room.
The morning came, I was the first to wake up…. I went to Kemi’s room…
They were still asleep….
I went to Shola’s side and tapped her…
She opened her eyes…slightly before I tapped her again and she opened them fully…
I knelt down beside her and started begging….
Me: Baby, you know I only care about you…. And I’m concerned, I got too concerned forgetting the fact that you are also human…. I did the worst thing in my life by laying my hands on you…. But Shola, you’re still the best thing that has happened to me…..
She ignored me by taking her face off mine…..
Me: Shola, please come with me… I need to tell you something.
She turned her face to me again as I stood up and went towards my room….
She followed me….
I held on the door for her to get into our room….
After which I helped her seat on the bed….
Me: Shola, see all I’m doing is mainly for the time I won’t be around…. I might not even be here when you’re delivering….
Shola: I know and I’ve taught of that also…
Me: do you want to know what the doctor told me?
Shola: What did he say?
Me: He said you stress yourself too much…. And it might end up affecting you…. And destroying everything…
Shola: Like I guessed. I knew it… but that’s not the case… what do I do that makes me stress…. This same people talk about exercises…. And that’s what I’m doing…
Me: I know baby…. I just want you to calm down…. Or have you gotten pregnant before? *I said jokingly*
Shola: Yes now…. You know this is the second time I’m meeting you…. You got me pregnant in the first world…. We’re in the second world….. And Jide… in the third world, you’ll get me pregnant again… And again…. I’m all yours… forever and ever.
Me: I love you Shola…. Just always listen to your husband *I said jokingly*
Shola: And the husband should never beat the wife again, it’s the worst thing a husband can do.
Me: You know what, I want to go and get the car fixed….
Shola: And what?
Me: Go and get dressed…. And tell Kemi also…
We departed to our various destinations….
I went out to look for a local mechanic after minutes, I was lucky to get one…
I brought him into the house and showed him the car….
Everybody was ready in about 2 hours as we were nearing day break already….
Kemi: So brother, where are we going to?
Shola: Abi o, help me ask him….
Me: Ladies, you just get into the car….
Shola came closer to me…and whispered *remember you don’t have a license*
I was a little baffled but since we were all ready, I got in the car and reversed it out of the compound.
Shola sat beside me, in the first passenger’s seat.
Kemi: Jide, I feel like driving….
I and Shola looked back, almost immediately….
Me: What did you say? You want to drive what? Or hold on…. Have you been driving Kemi?
Kemi: Not that daddy knows….
Me: AH! Why now…. Anyway, you’re not driving.
Kemi: Not like I wanted to really drive…. I wanted you to know I drive ni.
We got out of our area, and as I passed by the Northerner’s side and he waved towards me….
Shola: Why’s he waving?
Me: Who?
Shola: The drug dealer of course?
Me: I don’t know what you’re talking about…. I only saw a hausa man waving….
Shola: Yes, but why’s he waving? He sells drugs Jide.
Me: Probably, he took me for someone else…. At least, this is the first time I’m going out with the car.
Shola: Well…..
Me: Baby again?
Shola: No I’m okay!
We went on and I went to the bureau to change all I had….
From there, we went to the mall….
Shola: Hmm, Mister…. What’s going on….
Me: Come on, get down….
I called Kemi to a corner, explaining what we came to do here….
We went inside the mall….
Kemi led shola to the women’s place….
I joined them later after getting some mints for my mouth…. Just in case!
Shola got different dresses…. She got trainers, enough jeans and tank tops…
Me: Madam, you’ve your money….
Shola: ahn ahn….. come on!
We went to family to get baby stuffs….
This was the surprise I had for her….
We shopped for about 4 hours…..
As we left, my money was remaining almost zero….
Shola:Ah, Jide…. Wow….
We got inside the car and headed back home….
On our way back home wasn’t going to be a quiet one at all…
Shola: Eh…. My husband…. You really surprised me today…
In my mind, I was only thanking Nolly for making me get the money…
Me: That’s what we’ve been saying… but you keep fighting with me every time.
Shola: Anyway, I would be going back to school tomorrow… our exams are approaching.
Me: That’s good… so you won’t come home again?
Shola: I’ll… it’s just going to be rare…
Me: Oga o…
Shola: Yes, but you’ll be going back to school in two weeks…. And your parents are coming back… you won’t be bored.
Me: That’s true. How did you even know they’ll soon be home….i’m not communicating
Shola: Who doesn’t know you before…. They’ve complained and complained…
